Spring Break - 5:30am

Can you tell I'm on Spring Break? Three posts in two days! Ian has been sleeping through the night again so now I have to start going to bed latter because yesterday I was up at 6 and today it was 5:30. I'm doing maintenance on one computer and blogging on the laptop while drinking my coffee. Ah technology!

We leave for Chicago in a couple of hours. I am excited! Aaron has an interview on Wednesday, I get to see where I'll be working, and we get to look at neighborhoods and possibly apartments! We were expecting a snow storm but it turned out that we only got a few inches (maybe 4 or 5) and it looks like it's done snowing along the I94 corridor so driving should be no biggy.

I'm bringing the laptop so I'll keep you all posted.

My Lil' Helper

Ok, so yesterday I took a day and cleaned house. It's amazing to me how fast Ian picks up on what I am doing! I was busy vacuuming and not paying a lot of attention to what he was up to. I knew he was in the bathroom and in the back of my mind I realized that this wasn't such a good idea. However, I figured I wanted to quick get the vacuuming done and he was out of the way so I would keep working. After a bit though, I thought I should check on him. He was cleaning the toilet for me... I found him up to his elbows in the toilet water with a sponge 'cleaning'. The water in the bowl was a bit cloudy but I figured this was because of the scrubbing powder that was left on the sponge. So I shooed him out of the bathroom and flushed the toilet. The water in the bowl started rising, and rising and I'm thinking, "Oh no, what did he put down the toilet!" So I reach in and find a large bar of soap which keeps slipping through my fingers and eventually gets lodged far enough up the pipe that I have no chance of grabbing it. I wait for the toilet to stop flushing thinking I would have better luck when the water wasn't pulling on it. No chance. I can feel it and I try to get a knife thinking I could stab it and pull it back that way... no go. So we can't use the toilet off our bedroom until the soap dissolves... good thing we have a second bathroom and I don't have to make a really embarrassing phone call to maintenance! Thank you Ian! Such a good little helper. I just have to laugh.

Splash Splash Splash!

Mary came to visit this past weekend and we went out to buy Ian a pair of rain boots. With all the snow melt he couldn't resist the water. Rather than try to fight it and/or constantly having to put his shoes in the dryer, we decided to equip him properly and let him go to town. He loves it!! Now the trouble is getting him to come inside when he's getting chilled. Whenever we say puddles or anything about going outside he now brings us his boots and starts fussing if we don't move fast enough. I love it.

He is so amazing! When Mary was here she gave him his wrapper from his string cheese and says, "Go put it in the trash." next thing I see is him walking over to the cabinet under the sink, opening it up and putting his wrapper in the trash just as if it was the simplest thing in the world. I had no idea he understood so well! I really think this is a new development though - like as of this weekend. Wow, we really have to start watching our language!!

He got his first haircut today... it was kinda sad to see his little locks being cut. He still has curls in the back - no worries there, grandmas! And I saved some for everyone. I took pics of the new do but the batteries died in the camera before I could upload. So.... you'll just have to check back later.

Mom's 75+1 Party

We celebrated my Mom's 75+1 birthday with a big she-bang on Saturday. It was good to see everyone and my Mom seemed happy.

Ian started running this past weekend! So now it is official - he can move faster than us.

I am in the midst of midterms. I had one this morning and have another on Thursday, after which I am on spring break! Aaron, Ian and I are headed to Chicago on Tuesday of next week to see if we can find a place to live. That's exciting. It seems like this semester is passing really fast. I can't believe I'll be finished soon. Two more months!
