Good to see I still have at least two people checking in. Yes, the gate has been installed at the top of the stairs. We had friends visit a few weeks ago and they have an 18 month old little girl and one on the way. I was stunned by how she got into all sorts of things that I had no idea of. Just so my friends could relax we had to put the gate up immediately. They warned us that we need to attach our bookcases to the walls because little ones have been known to climb them! We need to move our books to higher ground and the dishes as well. The computer needs to find a new home, as well as the DVD player and video game systems. I have no idea where we are going to put all the stuff that is in our apartment that is under 3ft from the ground. She was even in the cat food! Is it naive of me to think that we could get away with not nailing the bookcases to the wall and just keep an eye on the kid? Anyway for now he doesn't move too fast so I can keep an eye on him. He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks but hasn't figured out the putting one hand in front of the other. He gets himself up and then moves both hands at the same time and lunges - landing flat on his face. No worries, though - he just gets up and launches himself all over again!

And I still check your blog every day at work on my afternoon break, so keep writing!
I used to purposefully climb the bookshelves that were attached to the walls because I knew they wouldn't fall.
